New owner of MS290, performance tricks?

It is a good saw for the money but I just can't bring my self to own a 3.4hp 13lbs saw.

The MS290 is a 4.1 hp 13lbs saw.

Down here in the States, it is a sub-4 hp saw. The catalog has it listed as 3.75, still weighs 13 lbs though! You Canadians always get an extra little bit of factory hp!! Lucky SOB's!

Just remember that it is a slight difference between hp, and the bhp that Stihl list for their saws in the USA. Examples:
3.0 kw = 4.1 hp = 4.0 bhp

This test of the German version showed 3.0kw, as the Canadian catalog lists.

It also showed 6.1 kg, which is close to 13.5 lbs.

The different power of the US version is most probably EPA/muffler related.

Stihl, Husky, Dolmar and Jonsered already know that the yanks are going to modify their saws in any event, so they don't give them full power right off anyway's.
