I have decided to clean up the cylinder and put in a new piston. I am looking at a Meteor piston to put in it. Is it OK to use the circlips that come with the piston or do I need to get OEM? What size do I need if I do need to get OEM? I am planning to put seals in, carb kit, fuel line, etc. I was considering putting a bigger cylinder/piston on but just want to get it going again. I strongly considered putting on a 272 topend and may do that in the future yet.

Thanks

Robert

Depending on the particular aftermarket supplier, the OEM circlips may not fit properly. I can't say either way regarding the Meteor stuff. Maybe someone who has used them will chime in.

Maybe the question should be, is it worthwhile putting any money into this saw? Would it be worth more parting out?

Don't give up on it!!!

I dropped this piston in mine and am VERY happy: Google Image Result for http://i.ebayimg.com/t/HUSQVARNA-162-SE-162SE-61-OLD-CHAINSAW-PISTON-48mm-/06/!BiT52ewBWk~%24(KGrHqMH-DMEsKf0oKgbBLORuynNTw~~_35.JPG
