My home made splitter started life in 1973 with a 6hp B/S engine that was about wore out from a old roto tiller. I got a job driving coast to coast so was never home so dad borrowed the splitter 1981 and soon replace the motor with a 8hp B/s engine and worked the snot out of it doing his wood a nephews wood and a daughters wood. I got it back about 1995 and worked the snot out of it then in 2013 it Just was not running good or starting easy but I limped it along finally bought a new engine for it.

A Harbor Freight non hemi Idem number 69730 and mounted it on the splitter. Shaft on the Predator is 3/4 and 1 inch on the B/S so I had to get a new coupler, Shaft is shorter also so I had to move the engine forward, the B/s also sat higher so I had to rework the pump mounting plate and shim the engine higher with side wall from a truck tire. I did that because some day I am going to redo the 8hp B/S engine and put back on.

Tell tail engine is not a hemi is the stamped metal valve cover.

This is the Hemi Predator engine Idem number 60363, it has the cast Alum valve cover. I just installed it on a old snow blower.

This 6.5Hp engine on the splitter is every bit as good as the old 8hp was. With just the change of a K&N air filter a lab got 10HP out of it.
