New Sauna Stove

Hey all! My 43 year old sauna stove finally needed to be replaced so I bought a Kuuma from Lamppa Manufacturing in nearby Tower, MN. I am extremely impressed with their professionalism and the build quality of the stove. Would highly recommend any of their products after dealing with them. I’ll post the pics of the new stove in this post then do a post op of the old stove which more or less fell apart over the past year.

Here’s the old stove… It’s served admirably for 43 years with zero maintenance other than to replace the water tank. Could not ask for more! Except for the cracks around the door, all the cracks in the firebox developed in the last year. When the firebox actually burned through I needed to get a new stove ASAP and Lamppa came through.

The original stove was actually too big for this sauna as it was designed for a sauna about twice the size. As a result it would heat up very quickly but you really had to back it off to have an enjoyable sauna. The new stove takes a little longer to heat up but holds heat incredibly and is very very efficient. For instance, I used seven pieces of wood for the initial burn off and sauna. It was still 100° in the sauna 18 hours later. The old stove would burn through seven pieces of wood in about three hours and temps will be down to 100 in probably six hours.

RIP old stove.

It's nice when a product has done it's job so well that it owes you nothing and you are thankful for it. Sadly, current products rarely give you that satisfaction.

This one possibly could make it even longer! It’s made out of much thicker metal and it is also lined with fire brick which will help the firebox last a lot longer. Time will tell!
