Yea bill you should adjust the carb. As your saw breaks in you dont want it to run too lean and score the piston. Alot of AS members adjust by ear, but it would be easier to buy a tach and adjust to the max rpm's stated in your owners manual.

I adjust my carbs everytime I use the saw once it is at operating temp. Also there is alot of great search info on this in the archives on the chainsaw forum.

Without disputing what skid row said because it is sound advice, the reality is that certain circumstances require carb adjustment. Primarily these are changes in altitude, gas/oil mix ratio and percent of ethanol in your gas. The Husky carbs come from the factory set to optimize at sea level (which is an advantage for you as most of the Northeast is close to sea level-even the Green and White mountains) they are also set to optimize at 50:1 mix ratio. The real good techs that I talk with in Massachusetts say that so long as the customer hasn't screwed around with the saw, they almost never have to adjust the carbs of the saws that come in for routine service.
