Very nice saw , Mark, I didn't realize Allis sold saws, we used to have an Allis dealer in our small town back in the 70's, will have to keep an eye out for you, Vibes sure did you right!

Yeah I actually started to work at a Allis dealer in 1978 and they had sold these Allis saws. Allis had got out of the saw bussiness by then and the dealer I worked for actually took on the Poulan line after that. They had such good luck with these that had been put in the hands of farmers, it was a no brainer for them, as they could get parts for all the Allis saws they had sold, plus the fact there were not a bunch of Poulan dealers in the area at that time.

I keep my eyes out for them all the time around here, but they dont turn up often. Most farmers would have probably just junked them instead of fixing them, but some dont throw away anything and there are probably a few stuffed in the corner of a barn somewhere.

I had actually located a farmer who said he had one in the barn that had belonged to his dad but it took me months before I could get him to give me a time to go look at it and by that time his son had cleaned out the barn and got rid of it.:msp_mad:

Is that a briggs/stratton oil reservoir cap I see in black?

Poulan and Remington (and probably others) have used that same oil cap on many saws. Why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to?:D

We had an active AC dealer out here from the '50s thru the '70s. I've never seen an AC saw here though. Mostly old McCulloch, Homelite, and Sears rebadged saws. I'm sure there were AC saws sold in the area...........I just haven't had any luck seeing them. Lots of stuff has been scrapped from old ranches over the last few years. I shudder to think of all the old iron and mag that's gone away....:frown:
