It is a 651 bored out and is a solo unit not a dolmar.

i run the 651 and love it. i have a 643 coming. 40 cc.to replace my limbing saw. i hope ilike it as much as the 651 .

I have the Solo 651 and a Dolmar 5100.............the 651 isn't even close!!!

A 651 solo with a west coast air filter and 3/8 chain vs. the 5100 is a very close race!

The 651s were detuned 2 different ways....set to rights I think they can slightly out cut the 5100s

I have a Ken Dunn Modded Solo 651P (those who have been here a while know that Ken is a master sawbuilder) This saw won't hang with a 5100!!!


It has been said that the 5100 is the baddest 50cc saw to come around in a while.............this is true!!!

I'll see for myself.....I know for a fact that my old P5000 plus keeps dead even with the 5100.....but I am old school and I did nothing but match up the ports and clean some flash out of it

Howdy Javelin,

I worked on a 651 a while back and finally tuned the carb and my neighbor says its a good cutter. He has a Poulan pro a good size one and he says he prefers the solo. I cut mostly with an echo 510 but we never cut together with the solo and the echo. You know it may be time for a showdown. I may have to call him up and issue a challenge. I think it will be close the echo 510 vs the solo 651. From what I have read the dolmar can nock a whoopin on some wood, I would not put any money against it in a bet with the saws mentioned.

I have a jonsered 2051turbo that will spank my 5100. But I have not run any other 2051's that will run with this one. Mostly because mine has been taken care of! The 651 was and is a good saw of older design but will hold it's own with just about any of them.

Not sure if you are saying the solo is not a good saw or the 2051 won't outsaw the 5100. Or both.

I have ran a 651 and I own a 5100s,dolmar seems stronger and no vibration.
the two saws are very close in cutting speed though,a real good operator vs. a novice I think the better operator would win with either saw,same thing with a good sharpening,the two saws are closer than people think.

A MS 260 will outcut 651.

Must ge a regional thing. the ms260 saws that I see seem doggy to me. But I am running customers saws.

yeah,I can't see a 260 cutting as quickly as the 651 or 5100.
that solo is meaner than people think,but it vibrates alot.
torquey little bugger though.
