Stihl Wrenching
neverenough said:One of my 036's was drop shipped right to my door. Box was never opened or seen by the dealer. Lot's of myths out here about Stihl and their dealers. Like it was said out here before, dealers cans sell the saws cheaper if they want to, but why?? Stihl does like to keep tight reigns on the prices, especially the smaller models, but a dealer is more than welcome to give their "best customers" a little deal if they want to.
Stihl doesn't care what price you sell the saw at, but they do care you set up the saw, test it, demonstrate it, and inform the customer of the various safety issues and recommended options available. You also can't sell to other resellers. If the dealer doesn't want to play by the rules of his contract, he can sell another brand. It's that simple. Part of this is that if you want 8000 servicing dealers, you have to have rules to allow them to stay in business. Selling boxes mail order, or on the internet, just means other dealers get stuck with the warranty repairs, and there's no money in that. If you don't care about service, buy Shindawa, Craftsman, Echo or Husky (o.k., sorry Husky fans, just trying to be mean).
