Moparman how's the 4000 treating you?

Fantastic!!!

I fired it up today for a few minutes just to listen to it run.
I couldn't believe it when I took a compression test and the gauge went to 165+.

I'm anxious for the weather to clear up so I can get to the woods with it.

Mike

That is a nice looking saw, I know those inside and out and they are a really decent machine.

I rebuilt a US 3400 and painted it a similar color scheme to yours but I didn't know at the time that they were orange in Canada, thought I was being original.....

Moparman has it now and I trust is still running it from time to time.

Yes Brian,

I have run it for a couple of saw snobs I know just to watch the expression on their face! LOL

That saw runs NICE.....REAL NICE.

I miss my Home and Native Land, Bluenosers and all lol

Hay FATGUY & gonecountry, I made a trip up to that part of the country back in 78 or 79 by motorcycle. Up through Maine, New Brunswick and around Nova Scotia. On the Cabot Trail I think it was called. Nice scenic ride, nice friendly people too, enjoyed that trip! We came back by way of the ferry from Yarmouth to Portland. Most of that 11 hour trip spent in the casino! LOL Only part of my trip to Nova Scotia I was dissapointed in was...didn't see ONE Moose on that ride...LOL

Gregg,

Gregg,

sounds like you had a great trip!!

Ah, back when poulan made real saws! The guy is not going to be pleased with the 290 compared too that. He probably already figured that out :buttkick: NICE SCORE!!!

Has that had some port work done? None of my Poulans have that type of surface to the exaust port.

I dont know but I doubt it. The guy I got it from said he bought it new and he just dont seem the type for modding...

Yes, I'm yet again bumping an old thread....because I have some questions:

Is that some kind on insert in the exhaust port?
If yes, is that common to the 4000, or is it unique to the Canadian model?

The more I look at that pic....I think its just shadow playing tricks. ;) Looks like stock factory exh. port to me.

Gregg,

Enlarge it and check the lower right-hand side and nearly all of the left-hand side; looks like seams and an insert to me. But I've been wrong many times.

I think you nailed it Joe! I have never seen or heard of one of those inserts for this series of saws. Like the wild things etc.
Was hard to tell. But looking that the 4000 reminds me I haven't run mine in a while. I'm lucky to have all good saws, saws that were the best at their time and are still solid reliable performers. Hard part is finding time to run them all!
