that 090 offer is very tempting, but this will be my third makita so I will have to keep it for now, (and I dont even have it yet).
I have been very happy with the makitas, and dolmar I should say, so far. Just need to get to where I have enough "regular" saws to send one off to get worked over. The stihl is way more popular, every time I try to get one that is worthwhile it gets just out of what I am willing to pay. Sooner or later one of these yahoos wil get bored of theirs and offer it up at something I can agree with.
I will let you kno
whow it turns out!

The few guys that I know who have run those saws tell me that they have a ton of stump power. The description the seller used about 5 eye popping horsepower doesn`t sound all that impressive and probably sells that saw short.

Nice find!

I have a Solo 694 which is the same as the Dolmar 9010 & Makita PS9010. This is a great saw! The only problem is that the muffler is very restricted. The can be of course be rectified. It is just time consuming as the muffler needs to be split apart for the best results. The gains are quite good as the saw runs just like an 066 after the mods to the muffler.

Rich or John do you or can you post some pics of the stock muffler on your saw. The reason I am asking is I just got a shippment of new 9010 dolmars and the muffler has changed from what I had gotten in the past. The new saw sounds a lot stronger than what I had been getting in the past.

This is the Solo 694 ( or Makita 9010 ) muffler after mods. I didn't take any pics before I did the mod. Mods that can't be seen are the removal/opening up of the basket inside the muffler. There is a big difference now in this saw. Probably the best gain that I have seen in a muffler mod.

Javelin,

I remember making my bicycle sound a lot stronger in my youth, but I don't have any pictures   hahaha

Is the hole I'm seeing in the front of the muffler the mod that was done to the muffler? besides the internal ones I mean.

just like new

I got the saw. i dont expect it is even broken in yet. Paint is still showing on the edges of the bar. Cant really stop the saw in wood, but it is not screaming fast. Heres a couple pics of that stock muffler. Making the mods is going to be a little tougher than the others I did. The muffler is welded together. Will require a little grinder work and a wire welder to put it back together. After a few tanks of gas will let you know more. I am putting a 25 inch bar on it, that monster on there is a pain to try and move around.
