I just (couple days ago) got that xl98 to work by putting the touted AMSOIL Synthetic 100:1 Pre-Mix 2-Cycle Oil in it.
Liquid pipe-cleaner?
1) Pull spark plug
2) Put the stuff in
3) Pull like a ... pro-creating rabbit
4) Walk away for two days (not in a linear direction of travel, just leave it alone)
5) Replace spark plug (yes, that crappy old champion @ .025)
6) Drain and put in what-ever fuel floats your boat? (I left it in, runs like a scaulded dog)
I am draining it and working my way back to sanity, this stuff works too good to trust. Had to lean down the carb and I figure more good done when I re-tune it.
