I forgot about upside down for smooth pruning cuts but no special bar needed for Stihl chain as it is hard enough to recut the groove in the bar when mounted upside down. Only Oregon requires a special bars,, we all know Oregon is softer,, well dont we?

We really need more info to answer your question. Which saw are you have chain troubles with? Have you considered using rope or cable instead of chain? When cable gets dull just turn the saw upside down.
