Hi guys, I just replaced the oil pump on my 266se and its still not going through any more than half a tank of oil. The bar also gets very hot and I have to adjust the chain sometimes twice every tank of gas. Are these new probars designed to take alot of heat and less oil? Did the oil filter in the tank need to be replaced also?
What if i cut the oil filter from the end of the line and used straight hose? Would the line float up? What do you think help me please, chris

Have you tried turning up the oil pump? I would also replace the oil filter. NEVER cut off the oil filter! It's there for a reason.

I'm pretty sure that you have your oiler set on something like setting #1, I keep mine set on #2 or 3 most of the time, then I have plenty of oil on the chain/bar and no problems, since my 670 is pretty much the same thing as a 266SE I think you have that oil tank vent clogged or maybe your oil tank filter is clogged, i changed the one in my Homelite 330, it made a world of difference in the performance.
In summary, these are the possible things to check out,
Replace oil tank filter
check tank vent
Check oil holes on the bar to be sure they match up correctly
Check oil outptut holes for clogs/obstructions
and of course if that doesnt fix it, check the whole oil pump system for defects or something like that, anything that doesnt look right.
Its worth a look at the least.
