Well its nice to see so many Brits on here how many of us are there 25 at most, out of how many in the biz :dizzy: .. My opinion is this an indicator that not even the blokes doing the job take it that seriously..

Surely for heavens sake there must be more people interested in the job and interested in networking ,sharing ideas etc than us 25ish

I must have told 30 or so people about various Arboricultural forums, guess there to busy filling in risk assesments and VAT returns..

where are all these so called top competition climbers, AA contractors/ consultants, you know the big wigs of the industry etc etc

Oh well thank the lord we have the new breed of Arborist like you me and otheres out there LOL

Thing is, I think some people have no "real" interest in this profession other than a way of making money. How many builders would go on a similar forum to discuss the best way to lay foundations or build a wall? For many workers its "just a job" they dont want to think about work from 5 in the evening until 7 tomorrow a.m. We, the "interested few", care about our chosen career beyond the norm, which hopefully makes us perform to a higher level.

I've seen forestry ones but not arb as such. I think the RFS do level 4 qualifications (is that the right level for degree/post degree). Does the urge to go back to further education come back? I'm doing the final year of BSc Geography and i'm sick of it and just want it to be over. Will in a few years time find i want to do an urban forestry masters?

I feel the same way about guys around here. I think one of the driving forces behind our business is our staffs knowledge base. Having experienced, education and a great place like AS to share info to the continuing education is super important....And I am not afraid to tell customers about it. It is one of my talking points. I let them know that we belong to several organization that a designed for continuing education and a place to share new ideas, equipment and tools. And the customers love it. Why is everyone doing this?

i ust admit after being on here i only want to bring out the spikes on those special prunes, you know the ones where you take off everything and just leave a pole )

Mr Brushcutter, i ended up enjoying my degree, My Dissertation was on Deadwood Habitat Ecology, i got to offer up habitat creation schemes such as plastic explosives in trees, ripping limbs off and what not, it was great.
