That's it. Instead of tying on a running bowline to choke around a little branch at the top that might break off... I like it. I'd tie the end off at the base of the tree though not in the branch like in the pic.

I thought of another one about a month ago.

Shoot a throw line over the top of the Pine.

Pull any kind of rope over the top of the tree with a pulley tied on the end. As you pull the rope over, the pulley should climb up the back of the tree. This rope is the pull line.

Before pulling up the fulcrum pulley in step two, put your bull rope in it. A steel carabiner can be substitute for the pulley. Be sure to keep both ends of the bull rope on the ground. Don't let an end of the bull rope go up with the pulley.

Pull up the fulcrum pulley and the bull rope to any height on the tree is best with the pull line, and tie off the end of the pull line to keep the pulley in place. Leaving the pulley 3/4 of the way up will work in many cases.

Pull one end of the bull rope that hangs from the pulley around to the front side of the tree without getting it caught in the branches. Do the same with the other end of the bull rope. Bring both ends together, and put them on the pull line.

The pull line should extend from the tree a long ways in the direction that the tree will be pulled over. The pull line should not have a steep incline. Its incline into the tree should be as gradual as possible. This way the bull rope in the next step clears over the branches without getting caught in the lower branches.

Tie a steel carabiner on one end of the bull rope, and clip it onto the pull line. Run the other end of the bull rope through the steel carabiner.

This is key to the trick. As you pull the free end of the bull rope the bull rope will begin to choke around the top of the Pine tree. Ordinarily choking a bull rope around the Pine would not work because it would get caught in so many branches from top to bottom defeating the purpose. But because the pull line runs through the carabiner too, the bull rope rides up the pull line clearing all of the lower branches.

The result is a bull rope that is choked off on the top of the Pine. Pull the pull line off to the side, and the bull rope is ready to be attached a mechanical advantage or something.

I think your methods are overly complicated, (solving a potential problem by creating another problem) and you stand a pretty good chance of damaging a block left in a tree you are pulling over. Just sayin'. Apart from that, it is interesting. :msp_thumbup:
