I'm in the same boat Gregg. When I cut in Vermont no one seems to wear them. Likely my vanity getting in the way.
Bob

To be honest Bob, I DO wear the muffs when milling. I use a muffler modded 385xp for that, and long extended cuts like that can get almost as annoying as a 71A. As far as firewood cutting goes, I use my older Poulans most of the time, and I quite frankly LIKE to hear them run.

I have tried using them, but I also like to hear what is going on when felling a tree too. Little snaps, cracks etc., limbs coming down and so forth. I do wear a helmet when felling. (Although it is a plastic one.)Took me a while to get used to doing that. After getting knocked in the head years ago from a falling limb, pushed me to wearing one.

Chaps are another thing I have started to wear. Not always, but most of the time. Mine are black, and can be really hot in the warmer weather. The reason I have those is that they are Poulan Pro labeled. LOL Its hard to teach old dogs new tricks I guess.

To quote Locutus of Borg: 'Resistance is futile.'

For some reason or other, I'm quite fond of full wraps.

Chris B.

I ran a 372 with the USA full wraps and loved it with the thicker handle USA had.

Now on my dolmar 166 full wrap saw I couldnt stand the full wrap on it. The handle was so dang skinny. So I traded it to lee for another half wrap that are much thicker and felt better in my hands.

New oem for the 505 is $70 and shipping. I just cant make myself pull the trigger without knowing if they are close to the half wraps in thickness.

Hmmm (just thought of something) Hey Roger you have a full wrap on a 475, whats the word on the above? Never mind I just read the reply elsewhere in the 475 thread . Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never seen a full wrap for the 3400-4000 series saws so I just had to have this. It may have cost more than I gave for the saw.

Looks like it needs a big ole set of west coast style dogs on it!

Either that or we will have to balast the rear handle. :msp_wink:

Really though its cool that you found one, I had never seen one either.

On the way home from work tonight my Brother-in-law calls and says he is at a local auction and there are a bunch of chainsaws there.
Says one is a huge Poulan Pro and it "must have a 40 inch bar!".

I'm thinking ...............Hmmmmmmmmmm........I only know of a couple that it could be.
It was a 655, I think.
There were no markings anywhere that told the size, only the Poulan Pro decal on the recoil.

The seller said it "ran good" but he said the same thing about a dozen others that I GUARANTEE haven't been started in several years.

I ran it to $150.00 and let it go.:msp_angry:
Just too much that can be wrong with them that get's DEEP into my real shallow pockets!

Maybe next time.:msp_sad:

It's tough bidding on a saw you haven't even seen. You probably made the right decision.
