procarbine did ya run the 3.3 anymore? Its a snow day here & I think Im gonna dissemble mine here on the counter this afternoon. I slipped in the garage & slid a round in the chamber only to see my kids spook off a yote, o well he hunts another day, he was pretty in the snow.

anyone try & machine into the side covers on the 3000's a side chain tensioner? Diggers dad in the earthquake thread posted some numbers for some parts & Im thinkin about a retro fit on this sears best 3.3 as im missn the original parts anywho.

Except for at least one...:D I'm pretty sure this is original, I never changed any thing on this one except the bar. I did take the brace/chain catcher bracket off of this and put it on a 4000, because it had better paint, this one is kinda ugly.

Gregg,

I love those 3700s. I know mine had the larger and braced handle as well. It was broke and I replaced it with a 3400 style that I had to bore out.

i went through my 3400 - 4000 series saws today, I have
8 green 3400's
1 green 3700 (big bolt handle)
1 red 3700 (Craftsman)
1 red 3800 (Craftsman)
1 gray 3400 (Craftsman)
1 Green 4000

Youze gutz better watch it.

I fought off the yella fever, but the green (or poulan yella) is starting to itch at me.

I spy about a half a dozen in that group that would help the condition along.

What is it they say about supply and demand?

Picked up a 2800 w/o a tank assembly. Cylinder gasket leaked so I pulled cylinder and did a squish test, metal to metal. .018". Seems a little to tight for me so I may have to make a gasket to raise it. First time I've had this situation with a Poulan. Then on to find some missing parts.

Yea, i think I am around 100 saws now, mostly Poulan green and Tan saws. I do have a small collection of Homelites (smaller models).

I have 16 sand cast saws
I have 17 or so S25DA type models

OK which of you's guys got this used "3400" P/C on ebay? I'd just put that one in my watch list last night. They guy still has a 4000 style flywheel (look at the pawls) listed as being for/from a 3400. I'd seen the flywheel first, and then saw the P/C listed. My bet is that somebody else has eagle eyes.

Look at the piston and rings. To my eyes, those are thin rings on a bare piston. Pics aren't the best, but that bore looks chromed to me too. That ain't no 3400 P/C (if it was, it'd have a chromed piston with thick rings). It's gotta be a 3700 or 4000 P/C. Will be funny if somebody actually bought it expecting a 3400 P/C and will be getting a nice surprise when they arrive (or they never notice what they really have...........................and end up with the strongest "3400" they're ever seen).:D

the poulan/Craftsman bar /hand guard he is offering is from a 3700. my guess is 3700 piston/ cylinder also

actually that piston and cylinder are both questionable in my book. I would not expect them to last long.
