Thats more then the one I sold brought and I had went completely through the one I sold. New crank seals, lines, carb, oiler the whole ball of wax. Mine looked as good as that one also except for a piece broken off the clutch cover.
I gave a whopping $15 for mine at the auction we went to so I still did alright with it. I already had a couple others, so it when to pay for my auction debt.
I hope the buyer is happy with the one selling now.

yeah thats a nice clean original example of a later model 306A. I got it in that condition. Got it running and put it on the shelf.
I tend to agree with ya Tim. But if I was the seller, I'd be tickled.
Funny how it goes with them 4000's on ebay.If I tried to sell one, I'm sure it would hit the $100 mark, and then just sit there. If a person was sure somebody with more pockets than brains would come along, I'd be tempted..

Yeah that 4000 is across the state from me. It's on cl too. That price is high to me, I'll wait. I've seen 2 others on cl for $100 recently but they are in other other states across the country.
Do any of you guys know of a source for the rubber intake boot for the 3300/335 series saws? Or maybe even a good used one?
Since it only has the one bid so far; do you suppose the seller bid that?

Checked last night and it doesn't have the manual oiler adjuster on the bottom. Date under the top cover says 1980.
You know Tim, that crossed my mind too, when I looked at that add, being the only bid. Seems like a pretty high starting bid to me. Usually these saws that go for high $$$ seem to get worked up in small increments by multiple bidders. Kinda like a bidding frenzy. I have never sold anything on ebay. So I ain't smart enough to pull a fast one on somebody.

Nope sure don't. I know the larger boot for the 3450 etc is still available but you would need the larger steel plate that goes against the carb as well. The hole in the carb box would need to be enlarged and the older models with the long screws going through the carb don't have very much room to spare to use the larger boot.
My later Type III 365 was a good candidate for the bigger boot swap as it has the studs coming through the back side of the carb box and already had the larger hole for the larger boot.
If I get back into one, I'm going to look closer at using a Stihl 036 boot as it looked like it might work .

When you guys are opening up the muffler body on the 3400-4000 series are any of you attempting to match the exhaust port on the cylinder to a certain %? There are many threads on muffler mods and I am reading anywhere from 80% to 125%. But, my guess is that figure would be saw specific. I haven't calculated the area off of the cylinder, but it appears from the photos I've seen, the side ports that were stock on the 4000 are below that range? My 4000 came without a side port and I would try to match the area if there is a "sweet spot" that works.

I do know the 3/4 tube on my 3700 seemed pretty sweet.
