Does that 3400 have an adjustable oiler on it? It looks to be an "early" one by the oil cap and rear handle screw.

When you guys are opening up the muffler body on the 3400-4000 series are any of you attempting to match the exhaust port on the cylinder to a certain %? There are many threads on muffler mods and I am reading anywhere from 80% to 125%. But, my guess is that figure would be saw specific. I haven't calculated the area off of the cylinder, but it appears from the photos I've seen, the side ports that were stock on the 4000 are below that range? My 4000 came without a side port and I would try to match the area if there is a "sweet spot" that works.
I just don't want to go too far.
