Could be the gray version of the 3400 that Poulan did for the craftsman.

I was going to go look at those two 5200s a couple days ago and decided to pass on em. Hopefully they are in good shape for you, make sure you go through them, he said they haven't ran in 8 years.

I definitely will. I'm prepared for the usual stuff required by an older saw like this and don't have a problem replacing fuel lines and putting a carb kit on it etc. my main concern are compression, the P&C and other parts that are no longer readily available

As an aside, yesterday marked 27 years since Hurricane Hugo slammed into my hometown of Charleston, SC. Looking through some old pictures our local newspaper posted I noticed this one of a then brand new Poulan in action. Can't tell exactly which model. Maybe someone else has better eyes than I do.

Both traveling same distance? Is one getting hung up on something?

Try these...

3400-1.810" Al
3800-1.880" Al
3700-1.875" Cr
4000-1.935" Cr

Bores are either Al or Cr. 3400/3800 thick rings. 3700/4000 thin rings.

Hi guys I have a poulan 5400 here down under that has been sitting in shed for some time. I've recently got it going to cut some bigger hardwood around our property for firewood. Dried out red gum Needs big saws. It recently snapped both bar studs. Has anyone fixed before? It looks to have square head studs - I've tried to get the case apart but no success. Can anyone advise how to replace broken bar studs....thanks!

Just a guess but I think if u take out the oil tank u can get to them, they do have square/rectangle heads... Seen them on ebay
