I installed the pto side , but this is the seal I purchased based on posts in this thread and as you can see I am doubtful it is going to fit? The steel support looks bigger than the original?
I got 2 ofcourse, the saw is a 361. Any help would be appreciated even if you tell me I'm wrong and it will fit, I'll drive it home!

Searching here states that the 7414 is for the PTO side, 6120 for the FW. I think that 5523 is an old error, but always measure the shaft & bore to check. 6120 is 5/8” bore & 5523 is 9/16”, both are 7/8” OD. ModifiedMark was talking about the FW side seal issue several years back.

Did you mean that you installed the FW side, in the 1st sentence?

I see you're one of them left handed weirdos. Always wondered what lefties did when cutting. It looks so un-natural to me....

Most of my left handed friends use two handed things like chainsaws, rifles and such just like a right handed person would.
Dominant hand doesnt have to be on the handle or trigger.

I was born left dominant but forced in school to write right handed. So ended up more or less ambidextrous. Probably also why I'm fairly open minded :)

I'm normal and never thought about it. I do most of my bucking with right hand on the trigger, but felling, I pick the safest side of the tree to cut from that side, feels comfortable either hand on trigger. Always do flush cuts with left hand on trigger.

Yeah the flywheel side has been installed, and thank you for the feed back . I'll pop the old seal out and measure it.

Funny that you noticed that. I never thought about it. I throw left handed, bat right handed. Growing up left handed in a right handed world is strange. Lol

If you were felling I wouldn't have noticed as I switch often for that too. Just bucking it looked awkward. Like your too close to the bar and chain since that's the clutch side.

I didn't notice at first, was just enjoying watching a Poolin cut that fast. Then when you mentioned it, it looked real strange.

I finally got my piston separated from the con rod on this 3700 with a homemade puller setup from the hardware store . It wasn't hard after I finally figured out how this Poulan was put together.

When it comes time to put this back together what works best heating the end of the con rod a little to expand it with a heat gun or just doing it cold and press the wrist pin back into place ???
