Restoring a 4900 countervibe saw and need some help with the crank seals. The document i have from here (got it a long time ago) has a bunch of cross references for various saws and manufacturers and lists the large countervibe saws as requiring 2x SKF 6904. When the seals showed up i compared them to the seals in the saw cases and they are definitely a different size. So what seals should i use? The bearings listed in the cross reference document are correct.

This is an exact match for shaft and bore but the width is larger. 6mm vs 4.85mm but I measured and there's room for the 6mm width.

Is there any chance of sharing that list or directing to where it is located ?

Found another 8500.

I'm not interested in it, but can get here for someone.

Even has some custom work.:rolleyes:

PM if you want me to check it over etc. Otherwise I am passing on it.

Indiana?? I could pick it up! How much do they want for it?
Ohio. Only 2nd 8500 I have found local since 2017 when I started looking. 1 5400 so far.

This one is pending local pick up Sunday by a collector here.
I just feed folks saw collecting. I like finding them. But I dont collect saws.

Poulan 8500 I told a few about. I did go ahead and check it over. Piston had starting scuffing on exhaust side. Tank vent duckbill off.
Had very old stale mix in it. Why I figured it scuffed owner said he had cut up a bigger tree with it.
Got it cheaper due to piston. But she has good psi and starts up. Have video of it running and idling.
Needs someone that wants to go though it for their collection.

Had red marker on decal and part of recoil. But wasn’t permanent. Wd40 removed most in one application.

UPDATE: Right now pending with local collector to pick up Sunday at cheaper price I was able to get at.

Good Evening! I got bored today and decided to clean up the PR4218 while waiting on a b&c .Pulled the muffler out of curiosity and piston looks good.Suprised since the saw has been mistreated some.Found the fuel leak , grommet going to fuel tank is broke. Looked at the muffler and I think it needs opening up some. Spark arrester screen was clean.Someone let me know if this is a bad idea! Next will be to check out the oiler, the bar just doesn’t last very long.I think it’s loosing oil by the clutch cover . Hello Skeet88 , your pr4218 is a 2.56 cubic inch engine with a restricted 0.199 square inch outlet .
I would open the top of the top outlet slot 1/32" and the bottom of the bottom outlet slot 1/32" .
The diffuser has a open area of 0.694 square inch .
The deflecter has a open area of 0.336 square inch .

I cant find info on this poulan 760 chain. Anyone with specs of it? Is it like oregon 76 or is it just 3/8LP like on micros or what?

It's Oregon 76 chain. They made a similar .325 lo pro chain as well. They cut decently but not as fast as regular 3/8 chain.
They called it Super Guard low profile round ground. 3/16" file.

Thats what I was hoping it was. Thanks for info.

I had a bunch of oregon 76 and know of the mac 370 PG which is same. But hadnt seen the 760 so wasnt sure and only had that pic.

Power wise how do they compare?
Didnt run them back to back. 85cc about like 385 though from cutting with them in past. 8500 might have torque over 385. 385 lighter by a bit.

I wouldnt even compare it to a 395 IMHO. 395 are 94cc. Beast in oak buried 36" cuts.

Only reason for this comparison was because they weigh close to the same.

Another older one I compared to in weights.
