If you're looking for the Easybars, get hold of Kliminfool over at tr*ebuzz dot com. Send him an email for more info. They are really nice, compact and lightweight. You need to provide a CMI ascender.

Does any other company make a product similar to the Pantin? My understanding is that our industry has been keeping it alive but I was wondering if there is anything else close on the market?

The Pantin for a closed system seems useless to me. It takes so little to footlock the tail of the rope, for those few times you ascend, that it's not worth it.

It does however work for climbing SRT. Footlocking up an SRT, especially a thin rope, is very difficult and take up half your energy trying to get a bite on the rope. Here the pantin works ok.

I have never used the pantin but footlocking is just too easy and convenient. My feet are always with me. I have had to practice to get it to an art, but it was only 9-10 months ago that I way asking how to footlock and thought it was a masochistic sport.
