Today next to the fire station I work at, a tree company was preparing to remove a tree next to the road. They just began working when the road commission pulled up and shut them down for not having the proper permits or signage along the road way.

So what will it take to get a permit to cut down that tree? And why would anyone want it cut down? Sewer coming in or what?

If the landowner isn't taking it down out of necessity they are as dumb as a stone. I hope they are denied a permit, and the crew goes and does its logging somewhere else.

I agree it's a beautiful tree, I hate to see it come down.
The homeowner is turning her home into a beauty salon and thats where the parkinglot is going.

I got a chance to talk to the guy from the road commission, he was turning around in our parking lot and I asked that question. He said you have to call them and they will come out to inspect the project and approve it, and inform the company of what signs they have too have posted along the roadway.

Who told her the tree had to come down to make a parking lot?
Wait, wait don't tell me--a Landscrape :dizzy: Architect! Or the tree experts at the Road Commission.

Pavement can be laid on top of root systems. Trees are happy if it is done right. She will have happier customers if they can park under the shade of a fine tree. She could even put a sign on it.

Why is she throwing away money destroying her property's biggest asset? Are you near Manistee?

Guy, your absolutely right! It's a real shame people don't realize how benefical trees our to their property and the surrounding community. I, have know idea why they have to cut it down.

I'm about 45 miles north of Detroit straight up I-75. Manistee, is on the west side of the state about 3-4 hours from me.

And they have been given the wrong idea. Is it too late to knock on that lady's door and tell her she can have her tree and the pkg lot too?

I, already had that idea, I'm going to stop by tomorrow when I get off work and see if I can talk any sense into her. I realy would hate to see that tree to come down.
