Any climbers in North Central WI? I am interested in trying, but dont want to buy all the gear and have no one to teach me. Thanks

I need to know everything. I have never done it. I have not idea of what kind of gear or anything. I'd like to do it just for fun if that makes sense. where are you located?

You might have a better experience if you track down some recreational climbers in your area. Nails is pretty much all business; it's not fair to ask a pro climber to get you started in something for the fun of it. Have some fun first with someone that does it for the fun of it, then check into doing it as a career.

There is a forum here that is dedicated to fun climbing: http://www.arboristsite.com/forumdisplay.php?f=45

I'll send you a personal message. If you've been around long enough, you'll see that this type of thing always turns into a soap opera, so keep it private.

thanks guys, thats what I was hoping to find was someone who does it recreationally. I would never bother someone that does it for a living and try to take time away from them.

Aw c'mon Nails. It doesn't always turn into a drama. Quite a bit more often than I would prefer, however.

You won't catch me bashing anyone for wanting to get in a tree. It seems like a popular activity, I don't know why so many folks get bent out of shape when some newbie announces he would like to get started in the business.

tskar,
Hey if you can get some advice and hands on with nailsbeats you will definately excelerate the learning curve in the right direction. Maybe you could trade some ground pounding time in exchange for his help and you would get to watch a pro at work. Just a thought.
