I run full and skip on my 32 and 28 bars. I dont mind sharpening full comp. Its a stress reliever.

Full comp limbs better but skip will clog less in the cut when bucking passed the 32" tip
Full comp plunge cuts better. I find i plunge cut quite abit to keep from pinching the bar while bucking.
Both work in fir pine type stuff.

I find that saw works better with a 20 in bar. It's a hot rod, not a tractor. Try the 20 with full comp.

I like my MS400. I changed to the large capacity clutch cover and dual spike. I am going to do the oiler upgrade as I too like a little more bar oil. It may be it’s just what I’m used to. It pulls non skip 25” just fine in white and red oak IMO. It will get a bit more lively alter using several tanks of fuel.

Oiler upgrade sounds good! Can you just add the parts to that oiler, or do you have to buy a complete one? Will the 1128 series pump or parts work?

Got these in the mail today. Does anyone know the correct size screws? I assume allen head with some sort of lock nut. I assume I could find the right size screw easier than trying to buy Stihl screws?

Just a heads up, I have a set of those, put them on, used them a few times then took them right back off and replaced them with the factory dogs. They hog up a lot of bar space for no good reason.
can't remember the screw size off the top of my head, but the local dealer had them in stock and they were like $3.00. (And this was the dealer that I don't typically use or reccomend just close to the house.).

Same here, i put them on a 460 and after a couple uses i took em off and gave them to a member here. not to mention they looked kinda dumb on a saw here in Arkansas. we have huge oaks but the bark is not really thick.

I was worried about that, I was hoping they were somewhere in between, no complaints about them or the company, I was just hoping for something in between.

My set is just sitting collecting dust... same reasons lots of big trees, not so much in the deep bark that the normal dogs can't bite into.

I get what your putting down. However I do like a bit larger dog for several reasons, but mostly to keep the muffler and oil tank from getting bashed on.
Some of the pro safety dogs are a bit much though.

Here are the dogs I run. Only slightly larger than stock.View attachment 1220482
I can't remember the kit part number I got, but it was the stihl dual dog kit. Works fine since I can't seem to find the factory muffler cover I'm still running the obnoxious bark box. Whenever I start moving the rest of my stuff out to the shop, hopefully I'll find it. I may re-evaluate the dogs at that point.
