OK, I moved out here from southern WI earlier this summer - I am pretty familiar with what tree species are around here, just want to get up to speed on status of the major diseases, pests, other tree/shrub care issues in the region? And what is the best way to stay up to speed here?
I am currently located just south of Burlington, Vermont.

A few things I am wondering about....

Oak Wilt was a major problem where I come from, especially for Red-type Oaks.
Seems to not be an issue out here?

Looks like Dutch Elm is rampant wherever there are American Elms.
Sounds like EAB is about to be huge here. Or already is.
Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, not quite up here yet but on its way?
Thousand Cankers Disease?

Any region-specific pruning practices, tips, that everyone should know?
What else?

Thanks in advance.

Tips

Hemlock Wooly adelgid has already had its feast up here, reeking havoc on most Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) around here. If you look around you will see plenty of dead ones. It struck real hard in the 90s, especially in The Arnold Arboretum.

Yeah I have seen a lot of evidence of it in southern VT but not so much up north. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the replies.
