Time to get the Carhartt bibs out.
We are a bit warmer, at 20*, and a dusting of snow.
Trees are still heavy with leaves this morning, but the wind is starting to thin them. Usually pretty bare by the 15th.
Delivery late this morning, and another to load up for tomorrow morning when I get back.
Usually sold out by now.
About eight cords to go and last years wood will be gone, so... maybe another week or two.
Lots to split yet for next season but the conveyor is still down.
Surplus Center got the parts right out. Then waited on a welder, got impatient and took it to another guy.
That didn't work so good, because the wait just started over.
Then we went to Turkey Run State Park in Indiana for one last rv trailer camping. What a great place!
Never would have guessed it as I picture Indiana as flat farm land.
Then when cleaning the roof on the trailer found some cracks in the caulking around a roof vent that began rust the metal curb.
Finished winterizing and now hoping for a warm up in a day or three to pull the roof vent and replace it. The lap sealant is self leveling and needs to be warmer to get off completely and then to flow out when replacing. Been running back and forth to the RV dealer for this and that. First year having a trailer. Really enjoyed the break from firewood several times this summer.
The conveyor motor mount assembly is bench tested (next to the wood stove!) and needs dis-assembly to install. Getting closer to running...hopefully after loading the truck this afternoon, or tomorrow afternoon for sure. It is going to be harder to realign in place, but I can't install it as is, as much as I'd like to.
Still need to rethink the garage space to get everything in this year even without the TW-6 and DR chipper (that we sold this year). Kind of miss the TW-6. The trailer is too high or it would be in already.
Just spent some money on the driveway and squared up the wood lot the week before camping. Got a little more space to work with now that it is graveled to set a few more rows of pallets on.
Thinking of splitting in a pile with the conveyor for the winter and bundle on pallets in the spring. Extra handling for sure, but would help get a jump on things. Lots of beautiful winter days to work outside. Handling pallets in the winter I don't think is going to work very well all the way around. Cutting and splitting, no problem. The forklift starts well down to about 20-25*. Starts lower but sounds a bit harder on it, so what's the point.
Hard to guess what winter will bring this year. Either way, it's coming soon.
