I think that the "crane as a bush trimmer" would work much better if they used one of these:

That unit has a built in pivot in the attachment; they might even be able to trim the sides of the hedge with it!

I don't see a beer can holder on that model though, pdq.
 
Not needed! You put rubber bungees on the controls, and the crane operator hangs onto his own beer. No operator needed up on the machine!

The crane operator might consider using one of these:

Is that ANSI approved? Remember, kids, safety first.
 
I looked hard for an ANSI approved beer hard hat, perhaps even with ear protection or face shield. I couldn't find one.

I think the ear protection would be a particularly important feature to have, especially for use around the wife...It would eliminate most of those annoying loud noises that we so often encounter while drinking beer and casually trimming the hedges with the crane.
 
Reminds me of the video somewhere on Youtube where the helicopter is dangling giant circular saws to cut tree limbs back from the power line right of way area.
