I had a large red oak die and have it on the ground. It appears to have a clear log 39" at the base and 12 feet long. What is the best way to cut this? I have an 046 with a 28" bar and 24" Alaska mill. A friend has a bandmill but the log is too big to take whole. Can I cut a slab off the top and use a mini mill to cut several cants vertically or is there a better way?
Thanks,
Tom

Even with the 28" bar you are not going to get all the way through the middle but you should be able to takes cuts off the sides. so I'd take a cuts off all 4 sides with either the alaskan or mini till you can fit it all onto the bandmill.
