Oak wilt issue

Have a black oak (Quercus velutina) that has a good chance of having oak wilt, will be sending a sample of the tree to the pathology lab this week. The question is about treatment, I know that I have to treat my oaks around the black oak and the fungicide Alamo has been suggested and wanted to get feedback on if this is the right treatment. I will not treat the oaks until the lab culture the sample and determines if it is oak wilt. So any chance of saving the tree itself?

Yes, Alamo® macro-infusion is the right treatment. If it was mine that Oak with a positive for Wilt would be history. Don't forget to cut roots by trenching between infected and healthy trees.

If the tree is not infected I recommend Arbortect 20S. MUCH longer residual than propiconizole. Alamo is highly water soluble, and needs to be done yearly. Arbortect could be done every other year in high pressure areas. Black Oaks have very little innate defense against Oak Wilt, once infected, almost certainly terminal. I doubt propiconizole will stop it.

My understanding is my Black oak will need to come down. The Arbortect 20s sounds good but the expense is much higher then the propiconzole. So your statement implies that Arbortect 20s may save the tree? I have not had much time this morning to look at the chemical. So best place to purchase the chemical? I do have a license to purchase such chemical. Only tool I have to inject the chemical is a Quik Jet would that work or would I need to get the low pressure units for it (the unit use to inject Alamo)?

Well, am a forester in the National Park System, treat HWA and EAB and soon 1000 cankers disease. Worked with a arborist and trained with several different products. Licensed for Forest Health in my state. So I do believe I can treat a tree, besides after looking closer it seems that the Black Oak may have Oak Anthracnose.
