Got a couple of trees to knock over to make into timbers to complete my house project and considered doing it my self. Not a arborist by trade, even the 16" dia doug firs looked a little intimidating; on a steep hill surrounded by other trees with only a narrow alley to fall into. I called the guy who felled the larger trees for me earlier this year (54" dia dougs) and asked him to come out and do the job. Upon surveying the situation he informed that an old dog wood that was in the way might be a bit of a problem, I encouraged him to cut it down first if it made if safer to fall the Doug and he made a estimation that the doug would knock the dogwood over anyway and that he would add a little Dutchman in the notch to get it to fall just right. 70 plus year old guy fires up his 044 (only knock against him) and drops the doug, toppling the dogwood and laying the 90 foot doug precisely into the alley.....................I was happy to carry his saw back to his truck for him.

One of the last lessons many of us learn is also the most important - the value of experience. You can learn a lot just by watching some people.

You got to carry a really great saw to boot !

You are blessed !
