I was doing some research on Ogura's site the other day and found out there clutches need to be run through a break in procedure prior to being pressed into service. The clutches need to be cycled in and out 30 to 100 times (complete stop to fully engaged)to burnish in the clutch faces.
Just for the fun of it I called Vermeer and asked what Ogura's break in procedure was, there comment was what break in procedure.
Ogura states this same procedure may fix a slipping clutch.

How many new stump grinders do you think get delivered that have been run through this procedure ? LOL

They call it burnishing it in. I had to do this on my commercial mower clutches. I think stump cutting is really hard on electric clutches!!

I have used this procedure every time i have worked on a grinder with an ogura clutch and always check the air gap as they very often are supplied incorrectly set up
