I will have to take a look at my 350 as well. I agree it is one hell of a strong running saw for what it is. But I don't have much to compare it to, my closest sized saw is a modded Pro Mac 650. I am not sure what year it is, I do know it is a "Nascar edition" 350.

The 350 is probably the best non-pro saw out there.......:biggrinbounce2: :biggrinbounce2:

The only saw that has less vibes is the 372xp.......

When did Husky start to put a primer bulb on the 350's? (or maybe I'm incorrectly thinking of the 455's instead).

I think the 350's changed earlier here; about the same time as the 351/353. Then again, I'm not really that sure. Another thing I have to look into tomorrow.

Not that early.....

.......late 2004, early 2005?????

My memory of it is still quite fresh......

The 351 was the same style/shared parts with the 51 and 55.....the 350 was the smaller smoother frame minus the pro clip top and with a plastic base. The 351 was an orphan from it's introduction as the 350 sold for far less despite some early teething pains with crankcase issues.

In 1999 the 351 listed for 399.99 here while the slightly larger displacement 51 listed for 299.99 retail and the 55 listed for 339.99 retail

the introductory price on the new 350 then was 329.99

All pricing was then promoted as "Power Pricing" which was advertised by Husky themselves and was listed against their own "Regular Retail"

A side note......the power pricing retail reduction did not change the dealer cost on these pieces

I bought a late 2005 350 (with primer bulb, no cat), had a friend pick up the european muffler in Sweden; the saw is great. I couldn't understand the cool reaction to the 350 on this forum.
This thread explains it all. Thank you.

I've heard of a "jungle" muffler for it. Can anyone tell me what it is, do I want one, and give me a part #? If they exist, I can get one from Sweden.

I know it has a plastic case, but I'm not a pro. I paid Bailey's $299 for it and it's the smoothest saw I've ever used.

According to the IPL's, it seems the 351 and 350 were both introduced in 1998.

The serial number break where the 350 cylinders changed is 030103001. (1st week of 2003)

Now here is the interesting part: The early 350 cylinder has the exact same part number as the 351. #503869971. Since we know that a 346XP cylinder will fit on the 351/353, doesn't it then follow that you can also put the 346XP cylinder on a 350? Anybody tried this? (I might!)

No, but I believe you are on the right track (again) .......:yoyo: :yoyo:

And here are 2 more bits of information. Both the 350 and the 346XP use the same cylinder base gasket, #503894401. And I believe the same carb as well. So, I'm pretty sure that this will work. It would be a 346XP where the "XP" stood for "Xtra Plastic"!

And believe it or not, the price for a piston and cylinder for a 346XP is $38 LESS than one for a 350. ($170 vs $208 list)

There are an awful lot of dead 350's out there. Obviously, it sells in huge numbers, but also because a great many of them are bought by novices who are more prone accidents, straight gas, and such.

The 351 was not based off of the 51 and 55 frame...Totally differant saw.

The early 350 and 351 were identical, with the exceptions of the 351 having a mag crankcase, and quick release top cover. They were labeled for the PRO market.

The 2149 was the Jred counterpart...for the 351

Want pics? beside a 350? They look the same, with the exception of the snap clips on the top cover. The 350 & 2150 was screwed on, whereas the 351 and 2149 had the clips just like the 357/359.

Good research Spike..I found this out when i had a 345 that had a bad piston/cylinder. Found a 350 at the local dealer that had been smashed, put the 350 topend on the 345. Also need the "top of the crankcase" on this saw, as the cylinder on the 345 is the top half of the engine, with the crank bearing seating in the cylinder. The 350 has the "engine top" between the top of the crank and the cylinder...

Fast forward a year or so and I bought a 351. Tore it apart after some contreversy over which p/c it had...look very familar...tore the 350 back apart...YUP, same cylinder and piston... Same cylinder base gasket, exhasut gasket, muffler, carb, etc.

(345 carb was differant as I remember)

Also, the 345 piston is the same as the 346 piston.....

I didn't realize the 351 was made clear back in 98. I thought they were only made a year or two...lol.

Good thread so far guys, keep it up. lol.

I promise, I will get pics up before the end of the week of the 350/351 old cylinder and the new 350/351/353 cylinder.

You are 100 % correct....the price list I have from 1999 has the wrong pic for the 351....we were never shipped any for the price reason and you are right the 351 was the same as the 350 with the mag crankcase and the clip on top cover
