old echo 280e carb question for y,all

giving my old 280e a tickle up today , going to refresh the carb guts. this is an old one with white plastic disc to operate the needle arm. can you swap to the the diagphram with the alloy disc and nipple type without issue? some of you lads will have done this before. thanks in advance
