I use to think those little mini macs were the greatest saw in the world for trimming. Lots of guys had those little poulans, all metal. The little homelite were popular too. I worked for one company in the late 70's still used those Jonsered top handled saws. Back then even the biggest saws didn't have compression releases or chain brakes, what was safety chain? You had to be tough in those days.

From '70 on...Power Mac 6....Poulan Super 25 DA (leg burner esp with shorts on)....Stihl 015 then 020...some Sachs Dolmar then back to Stihl full time til now. Homelite climbers sucked.

NEVER saw a mini mac run for more than an hour even if brand new. you prob thinking about Power Mac 6. Otherwise you are telling fairy tales.

Around here, late 80's most tree services used Sachs Dolmar 105's. Saw an occasional 020 and green poulan top handle here and there. Have a small stash of those 105's, was using 2 until I ran some bad gas in them few years back and never got around to fixing them. Actually pretty nice with AV dampening, good torque and more gutsy then some of todays top handles.

To be honest all top handled macs are mini macs to me. I know the one your talking about. those little tiny toy looking ones. Never seen one that worked.

I started climbing when I was 16 I bought 2 mini Macs for like 20 bucks a piece now I no why they were 20 bucks haha they will run great/ non-stop in the winter but not in the summer I can alternate between the 2 and be good as long as u don't shut it off u can run it for a whole day just don't run out of gas ;)
