Looks like on Sunday I'll limb up the downed Hemlock in picture #4960, I should get one eight foot section out of it. Picture 4961 is topped off so it will get milled, then picture 4962 came down late last fall (hung up) so we took care of that, should get some nice boards from that.

Hemlock is a beautiful wood and easy to work with in the shop. The knots are as dense and hard as diamonds though.

I found out last summer, the ripping chain had been sharpened the night before but when I hit the knot it was tough going. I did get through it and never had a problem the rest of the day.

We had planned on making a rustic coffee table out of White Pine but after going through some old post we will use Hemlock, I never realized it had such a nice grain until I started milling.
