The pics range from OK to horribly poor quality. In one pic, it was literally impossible to see what you were looking at. They were all laminated at my exam and some of the lamination had yellowed to the point where the pictures were obscured. Each card showed the leaves, the tree as a whole, and one other identifying element, like an acorn, for the Oaks.

I took the exam, in-person. I wasn't aware that the exam is now given online. I would imagine the pics might be clearer online.
 
When I took the test, it was in person. The pics were all pretty good, mostly of simple leaves, but some were of the entire tree. Each photo showed specifically what was needed for proper ID.

I was given a respectably large list of common regional trees from which they might choose, which seems like a very good method. They did not include obscure varieties, and they did not try to include trees that would not be found in our area.
