Welcome to AS "neighbor" I'm in Moore County (E of Charlotte, N of Rockingham.)
Amick's is in Asheboro (north side of town on Bus. 220 Hwy) although I'm sure they'd have to add NC state sales tax to the sale, even if sold on the internet.
FWIW all the saws I have now were bought locally, but I've been wanting to make the hour drive up to Amick's just to check the store out. There's a large difference in price between their online price and the local shop... I fear I'll carry a 353 home for Momma, so I've been putting that trip off.
In my two other hobbies (4WD Jeep XJs and street motorcycles) I do 99% of the shopping online. For the Jeep, there are no local shops that cater to it. Luckily for me, the parts manager at the closest Jeep dealer 'gets it.' For the street-bike, seems the local dealers are only caring if you are buying the newest model WXYZ9999R ****-missile. Own a couple-year old model, and ya might as well be a leper. For those two hobbies (and probably many others) the internet vendors are the only way to shop.
The other great thing about the Net is that it's fairly easy to find an enthusiast forum (like this one here) where one can conduct 'silent' research, survey opinions, and gain volumes of knowledge from like-minded addicts.
