I am hoping someone can help me identify these 2 Oregon chains? They were given to me by a neighbor who had the same model Poulon but he sold the saw. Should one theoretically cut better if they each had an equal sharpenening and drags set?

I *think* this one is Oregon 91PX ??? A low profile low-kickback chain.

This one I have no idea. I soaked it in oil, sharpened it and it cut pretty good. Is it a safety chain?

The top one is 91PX. The bottom one is probably 91VX - does it have 91 on the drive links? 91VX is non-safety chain. The ramped drive links of the 91PX really don't get in the way at all though. They would make bore cutting difficult, but it's just about impossible with the small diameter bar tip sprockets on most lo pro bars anyway.

Yes, the bottom chain has 91 on it and it does look like the 91VX at Oregon's website.

That chain on the bar looks like it'll lose a 1/4 of the cutters to get behind the damage.
Depth guides won't be so bad high then.
notice that left hand cutter in the left of the pic.
the right hand one is filed at a back-lean and then looks pretty beaten also.
Some good filing practice though.
