Oregon Chipper Chain??

Ok so I had a customer asking me about Oregon Chipper chain.......apparently it is old they don't make it any more.......the tooth makes a "C" no flat spots anywhere on it......he says it was the best chain ever made......he also said Stihl made it too......anyone else agree with him? Anyone have a pic of it?

It is an out of date product, back there with bias ply tires and 8 track tapes. Although, I think you can still get something similar to it in the larger sizes.

Many people refer to semi chisel chain as chipper.

I've got a fair amount of it on old saws in 1/2" and 9/16". As stated, the cutter is very rounded. The semi-chisel of today is somewhat different in that they are more like the chisel chain with a radiused corner.

One distinct advantage of chipper chain is that almost anyone can do an acceptable job of sharpening because the correct angles are less important. Chipper chain isn't very fast-cutting, and not very smooth cutting, but there may be a case made for it being just fine on the old gear-drive and some of the huge, slow, direct-drive saws of 40 years or more ago.
The stuff also seems to keep cutting a little longer than chisel even when it's getting dull.

I imagine some day the image links will go south, but the cutter styles are presented as being current offering.&nbsp; They show two styles of the chipper, one with bumper drive links.
