well today i hunted for an sprocket for my 026 ,,325 and also my 036 3/8..
at first i got out of the manual oregon matches.. im seeing way to much play ..in other words it mite work but not the way original works..
next place strictly stihl pts. perfect match again out of the manual.. were talking 7tooth basics..
i always assumed oregon had a pretty good match system. but this would have been just good enough to wear something out bad..
by the way the stihl dealer also had the oregon match etc and hers was as bad as the other.. she was not an happy camper about that..didnt seem she was expecting that poor of a match.. my point is have u guys found this to be the case ,,or what..

well thats kinda what the lady said.. funny thing the first place wanted 10 bucks for oregon sprocket .. while the stihl dealer sold both for stihl sprockets for 11.. just goes to show u got to learn these dealers .. even if u likum..

Are we talking rim sprockets? I recently discovered that the sprockets sold by a very large logging supply store in Ca. really suck. I think these are made by carlton but not sure. I bought a few of the large spline a while back only to find out they are poorly cast with thick and thin spots. The rim wouldn't slide on the clutch drum because the rim had casting flaws around the splines that mimicked marred splines. The notches cut in the rim for the drivers don't even line up with each other. Talk about throwing a chain! I took one look and put them in the round file.
Thats what you get for 4 bucks. I buy only stihl sprockets now. Anyone else had a bad experience with carlton sprockets?

ah think they oughta all be one size maself.. simplify thangs a heck of a lot..:)
im gettin tired o running 14 s on one side 16s on the other .. think ill put my 12 inch festiva tire on the truck,,just fer looks.. nah mite look like ius gettin uppity.r sumpin.:)

Never did figure out if Tony is talking rims or the whole sprocket, but I assume it`s rims. Stihl uses what is known as a "mini" spline on those two models which is unique to Stihl. Everyone else pretty much uses small or large spline rims.

Here`s an angle for you to save some money over the long run Tony. Outfit your 026 and 036 with Oregon or GB splined clutch drums which will have the proper spindle size for the small spline rims by default. Call Jeff Sikkema for the GB setup, you`ll get the best price and the right setup and after a few rims you will be putting money in your own pocket. You could always sell your old parts on eBay, people get nuts about Stihls over there.

If you weren`t talking about the rims, but the clutch drums themselves, there is a difference in depth between the drums for the standard 026 and the pro model because of the way that the oiler is driven. Put a drum from a standard 026 on a pro and it will have room on the spindle to shuck and it won`t drive the oiler. I don`t deal with the 036 so I don`t know right off, but I suspect it`s the same way.

Whew...8 dollah me hollah...on that cost for a Stihl sprocket.

My dealer charged me 4 dollah(no hollah)for the last 026 sprocket I purchased.

Just moving this thread back up for a few minutes because I had to edit one of my frequent misspeaks. I said the Oregon and GB drums would have mini splines when I really meant small splines. This is only important to anyone with an 026 that wants to save money.
