Sweat. :biggrinbounce2: Actually when I lived up in upstate NY a few years back we had a thaw and then a ice storm the next day. I was driving down the highway and a huge pine tree uprooted and fell across 2 1/2 of the 3 lanes. I was on the 2nd lane and got lucky that I wasn't hurt but it totaled my van. If you want pics I'll get some to prove it.

It looks like a girdled trunk, from imporper planting to me. The planter is right there, in front of the car.

Tree failure from improper watering

Hii guys, Ihave seeen it happen here after Sta Ana winds. These damn cheap a__ ugly pines they plant in condos and shopping centers blow over.

They are typically watered by surface sprinklers installed fot the candy-apple groundcover the idiots like to use. Shallow watering and trees not in grove where thye can share the wind load=Oh bleep in a windstorm, especially if the ground is very wet.

Just my 2 cents/MHO. Dave.

If it failed at the ground the hood of the car would be damaged. This failure must have occured at least several feet from the ground allowing the top of the tree to hit first then breaking off at the failure point.

I could tell from the shape and look of the end of the log that it wasn't a branch tear off. It is clearly a planting depth issue. The landscaper should be sued.

Those Hondas fold up pretty good. Glad no one was hurt.

Toyota isn't too pleased that you're giving Honda credit for the strength of their suspensions. I agree it's holding up pretty well, I've seen compacts coming out of Lowes or HD squatting more than that with sheet rock or ply wood strapped the the roof.:dizzy: At least it wasn't a Vette, Porche, vintage muscle car, etc. They make those Toys everyday and nobody got hurt. Bet that complex owner is sweating abit though.

Good spot on the stem Mike.:givebeer:
