Not sure and I may be wrong but the location looked like an area that consists of tiny lots that are second homes for some folks and mixed in with year round people. There are lots of older and old mobile homes and interesting construction in the area. Some of it will have access cut off one of these days when the river goes back to an old channel. It made the national news in 2006 when a house fell in and floated down the flooded river. They also thought the river was going to change channels and cut off part of the development that year.

I guess I'm saying that it might not be so big of a deal if he did hit one of the buildings. Depending on where it was, housing prices have plummetted since the flood.

I believe YouTube is more dangerous than AS.

No reflection on Murphy, but what is it about chainsaws that leads reasonably intelligent folks to think that they have something to teach the world by demonstrating their skills on YouTube? Of course I regularly demonstrate my ignorance by posting on AS. Nonetheless, while fighting boredom this week, I was watching falling videos. In one, the "faller"* and the videographer talk about the hinge. While they do discuss that his undercut on the far side of his conventional face extended beyond the top cut. They never point out that the result was no hinge whatsoever on the far side and a very thin short hinge on the near side; nor did they discuss the purpose or importance of a hinge. Instead the hinge was described as decent and not bad for novices. There was no indication or discussion that he was trying to swing the tree, or that he was purposely chasing. He had it rigged and pulled, and on a positive note, it did fall where intended. I couldn't help but think where would that tree have fallen without the pull (or had the rope snapped) and how many novices like me could get hurt mimicking that "decent" hinge especially on a large heavy canopy tree like the one shown?
