Beyond my newly found obsession with saws as you can see by my signature. I recently sent out a set of Big Dawgs I got from Baily's for my MS440, to a firearms plater, to have industrial hard chromed! May sound really odd but, they sure look cool!

A pix would have been nice

WIth them screwed onto the saw, and parked up on a stump somewhere.

If I really wanted to go crazy with the idea of plating dogs... Near here there is the fishing tackle factory that I contract work in a few years ago. They have the ability to plate things. Chrome is one, gold is another.... I am sure that $$$ talks... Forget it. this is insane.

I have a friend who has a 288 husky with a custom chrome exhaust pipe.I never thought about chrome dogs.Sounds pretty cool

Just for fun how about a hard epoxy type paint finish on the big dawgs? I would think Stihl orange would look cool, this would be a cheaper alternative to plating but not as durable.

Being a total saw tramp, titanium dawgs. Bibbore577: black chrome!!!

Friend helped Pete Wilkins Build a set of Ti headers, for Gurneys, V-12 Westlake, no mandrels, sand packed and a number 2 rosebud.

Guess who I'm calling for a pipe. I am such a saw tramp!!!

577; I know a guy that built a 577 redhawk, I only built 475 & 500 Blackhawks.

My .577 is a Rimless Nitro Express bolt action built by Frank Wells. It sends a 750gr. slug at 2550fps out of a 23" 12-1/2lb rifle if need be. I keep mine down at 2200fps. for obvious reasons! In handguns, I've yet to eclips the .500 mark one in the S&W and the other in the Wyoming Express.

I made these ones the other day for my 044. Haven't tried them yet, the steel is a bit thicker than stock.

WOW. Those are wicked looking. :rockn: Have to be real careful not stick those babies in your thigh when carrying it. Deal with some thick bark eh? Nice work. Gonna match up with an outter set?

I'm left handed so they won't poke me, hee hee!!!
Well they are 50% looks, the stock ones looked cheezy to me. took about an hour with a grinder and zip disc.I doubt I will need a matched outer for firewood. Have some fir and pine to cut. Will give them a test later in the spring. Didn't dare price the big stihl ones.

where in IL?

BIGBORE577, where u located in the land of lincoln? im from down by mt. vernon. bet those dogs will look pretty snazzy!!

Don't get me wrong, they are not shiny and brightly polished. They have that Heavy Duty Industrial Grade Matte Finish. I have several revolvers done this way that I wear out in wet weather and they never holster wear or rust. However, they look more like a tool than a pimp's special.

What is a Wyoming Express?
Rob

The Wyoming Express is Freedom Arms proprietary answer to the 500 Linebaugh for their model 83 S/A revolver. I have one so chambered along with one in .475 Linebaugh, etc., etc........
