So, I have this saw at work. It's a 120xxxxxx 044. The chainbrake handle broke on it. We ordered up a new one, but it was the newer style and the bushing on the starter side took some finagaling to get to work, since it had the rubber insert rather than the metal cup. So, got it back together and now the brake jams itself on randomly, like when you throttle up for a cut. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar and what they had done to solve the problem. I imagine that replacing the rest of the mechanism with new stuff would most likely solve it, but I'd rather know for sure what's wrong.

Hey Tim ,Kyle here I think you got a handle for a magnum which I think is thicker or there is a difference in it on the clutch side. The spring is probably sitting a little funky from the brake, you could change it to like an 046 one and I think that would fix it. May just have not gotten the spring and linkage just right I've done that before and it has resulted in a itchy chain brake also.

Yup, I had a similar problem with fitting a brake to the 028. Long story short, there was more than one available handle.

There is only one handle for the 044 available as a replacement, and it fits replaces all prior versions (Ignoring the the Cat. coverter version that's not available in the USA).

You likely have assembled it "not quite right". Make sure the small spring below the handle mount is on the detent and post.

Yeah, I checked the assembly again, everything's right. Springs are sitting how they should. I'm thinking the small spring might be a little weak, thus giving less resistance to brake application.

Yeah Kyle, this thing isn't really giving me a "fair deal". Haha...

"fair deal"

I tell you what you want one heck of a fair deal you know just who to call and it isn't ghostbusters :ices_rofl: Oh well your bound to get an unfair deal every once in a while. Just that not everyone out there is the "Fair Deal" type of person.
