I had gone shopping with my mother tonight at the mall and she told me to go check out the work pants section of Sears. I saw all Carhartt pants and they looked ok. I am thinking though about getting a few pairs of arborwear pants, what do you guys think of them? Also if you have another favorite besides Arborwear would you please voice your opnions. Thank you-

I picked up a pair of Arborwear pants and like them a lot. But at $40-$50 per pair, I doubt I could afford to wear them every day. I've always worn jeans mostly. ????ies makes decent work pants, too. They hold up well.

This thing wont let me spell the name of the brand of pants. How about 'Richard'ies.

i wear carhardt only, when im working. they seem to hold up better than levis. plus they are cheaper!

I prefer the Carharrts over the Levis for working. I think they are a little heavier and also wear better. I got some Arborwear ones for Christmas but I'm still waiting for my wife to shorten the legs so I haven't tried them yet.

I keep asking the Arborwear guys to make some 38 40's but the just keep ignoring me.

I wear dockers, only way I can get something that fits well. My hams are pretty big from trying to be a wannabe body builder.

Dave, good question. I better double check that, I think she meant the pant legs though. :)
The first pair of Arborwears I got were 36 34's and they were way too small. So I returned them for 38 34's, and they're a little big. The wife says it's easier to take in the 38's a little than for me to lose weight and fit into the 36's. I know she's right about that one.

JPS, You are probably the only arborist that wears that size. Although, I heard Shrek wanted the same size too.:D

Far east? Don't you mean the 'Near North' Speaking of movies(someone mentioned Shrek) did you see the Orces riggin down those trees in "Lord of the Rings"?
Obviously I lean more toward the 'Elvin ' perspective but I do have my Orc days, but mostly I think Iam a Dawf with ropes.....

I can understand that Rob. I heard Middle Earth is in NZ.

BTW The guy who resembles Shreck was on a Gator Frator (troop ship) in the East China durring the mid 80's. We were skirting a typhoon and this guy was having problems and was not practicing good hygien.

I spent most of my time way up high on the ship (flag bridge 07 deck) on radio watch. The little LST's (tank transport) would crest a wave and disapere in the tough. Funny thing about those ships is when a ney guy comes on board and asks why there is no-skid halfway up the bulkheads:dizzy:.

Well I got 2 pairs of the Arborwear pants. They finally arrived today. Got them for this is causing problems for me so I am deleting the price per pair if Sherrill will sell for 49 thats a heck of a price cause even the arborwear site is higher with shipping and all that included. I got a pair of the Moss, and a pair of the Chestnut. I can't wait to try them on when I get home this weekend. I was goin through jeans way too fast.Guys....please if you cant tell your sources, don't tell us you have sources!!!! It only causes problems.

Where did you find the pants for that price? Sherrills told me they'd match it for me, but that their published price has been $49.

Come on man! Why not? Would it help if you emailed it to me directly. My address is in my profile thingy.

I use cotton ripstop BDU's and love them. I used to wear dockers and also Levis, but with both of them when you get a little snag they will rip and not stop until your leg or ass is hanging out. The ripstop BDU take nicks (not from a chainsaw) very well, just looks like a little puff. They are tough pants, Propper is the brand name I think. Here in FL you need cool clothes, and these are much cooler and allow more range of motion than Levis. You can get them for about $30. at a army navy store.
Just 2 nights ago I was doing some rec. climbing in a liveoak in my front yard (night climbing is the best), and thought for sure I had just ripped them open, but they were fine. I was straddeling a large limb, rotated underneath it so I could then drop out of the tree, but I did it so quickly I could feel the bark biting me hard.
