Can anyone tell me what this part number is for? It's on my 044 crankcase but it's not in any of the IPL. Reason I ask is because I need to buy a new one. Thanks. Evan

It's the crankcase on my 044. The serial number is 150xxxxxx. I can get the rest of for you I just forget it. It had the crankshaft with the 12mm piston pin. Thanks. Evan

You don't want to buy a new crankcase... you have to buy BOTH halves... the current part number is 1128 020 2122 and the price is $260...

You already have a decent crank.. Buy a used case... Maybe $80-100... or less if the crank is bad.

I was going to buy a used case but I need to know the part number for the case I need so I get the right one. I have the 12mm crankshaft so I need to get the right case. The IPL for the 044 has different numbers than my case has on it. Thanks. Evan

No... That's NOT the part number for the case parts - that's a part number for a case KIT. Part numbers on the castings aren't particularly relevant.

There are many different cases that will fit your 044 project. Find one with a serial number later than what you have and you'll be safe.

You guessed it. I set it in with a hammer and socket then finished it off with the press. After I took it out of the press it was about 1mm off flush on the inside of the case and it didnt look like it was seated all way when I looked in through the hole on the opposite side. So I put it back in and then took it out(I could tell my press was starting to fail) and then I saw the cracks and the bearing still wasnt all the way in. So I'm guessing that something must've fell into that spot where the bearing goes when I wasn't looking and then just too much pressure on the case. It's cracked twice and they're both in the oil tank. Do you think I could try and fix it since they're in the oil tank or should I get a used one? The clutch side is fine, no problems going in and no cracks. Thanks. Evan

I wouldn't try to fix it.. Just buy another crank case. If they have bad cranks they are real cheap - maybe $30-50... or less.. You need to keep the matched pairs - never swap them around.

If you heat the flywheel side case to 300F, you don't need a press at all.

Did you set the clutch side bearing against the oil pump?

Yeah it said to set it against the pump. Was I not supposed to? I wasn't going to swap halves I was just saying that the clutch side is fine if I fixed the flywheel side but I'll just get a used case. I'll try heating it this time. I hope I can get the bearing out without damaging the inner race. Thanks. Evan
