I've always wanted a pair of these because I love the idea of falling out of a tree or gaffing my ankle. Anyway, I was stalking my local pawn shops and these were on the shelf. $60. The leather is in decent shape and the straps are webbing. The Gaffs are fixed and short, but I'm unlikely to climb any thick barked stuff around here. I've lost enough weight in the past year or so to fit my seat that I used when I was in my 20s. It doesn't fit exactly like it did when I was 25, but it fits well enough to play around a little.gaffs.jpg

They're the cast aluminum ones with the foam padding. I don't know why or where I picked that up.... But that's what comes to mind when I think of them. They're not really like Cadillacs though.... More like Pinto pads.

You might wanna save up a couple more months allowance and invest in a set of these (copied from Treestuff listing) which are available from several Arboristsite sponsors. I'm still production climbing on my original set of Kleins purchased back in 1987. Have replaced the straps, pads, and gaffs several times on them.

A complete set of quality classic steel Klein spurs. Comes with nylon foot and leg straps as well as leather 'L' pads. Choose between 2 3/4" replaceable tree gaffs (most popular) or 1 9/16" replaceable pole gaffs.
