Hello,

I have two pecan trees in Reidsville NC. Both are 70 or so years old and are about 25-30 yards apart. Both are in the wide open on clay ground hillside. One is looking great but the other appears to be dying. Please see pictures. Any ideas?

Have you applied any root killing chemicals to your septic system?

Anything to your septic system?

Have you cleaned the front porch with any chemicals?

Looks like chemical damage of some type to me.

The septic is in the back of house and trees in the front. Unfortunately we’ve only owned the home for two years now. I have not done anything but I am unsure what the previous owner did. The one thing that looks funny to me is the Sick tree appears to be on a slight mound of dirt where as the good tree the dirt is level around it So I was wondering if somethings going on with the root system or if the dirt is too high over the roots but not sure. I am sure these trees were planted about the same time when the house was built the other thing I notice is the good tree is a larger diameter than the sick one. That tells me this could be something that’s been going on for a long time and causing a slow decline.
