Is there a way to de-cat or change the 6400 muffler? 600.00 is a great price on that saw.

So if you don't want to gut the cat-muffler, the old style non-cat will fit the 6400? I had heard the mounting was not the same as the old saws???

bolts right on just need the muffler, upper mounting bolt, upper bolt spacer and you leave off the the brace that bolts on the lower part of the muffler

That's why my Makita 6421 feels like a brick! That sucker gets pretty heavy a couple of hours into a cutting session, especially when I have to lift it above waist level. I may need to do the OEM 79cc upgrade just to make it less of a pig. Love how it cuts in stock form though.
